MyLanViewer is a network tool that can easily become a must-have for many users out there, providing a bunch of handy tools such as network scanners, LAN messengers, subnet monitoring and a Wake-on-Lan manager.

At the first glance, you may find the interface a little bit old-fashioned, but that doesn't even matter after you start getting experiencing its full powers.

All features are nicely listed in the left side of the main window, while the collected information is shown right in the middle, alongside a few other buttons at the top of the interface.

There are two scanning methods, fast and full, which will analyze the whole network and create a list comprising the connected computers along with some very useful information. For example, you can get the Round Trip Time (RTL) for each single machine, as well as the MAC address, the NIC vendor, the hostname and the work group.

If this is possible, MyLanViewer will look even further and return you the OS version and the remote time of the day, as well as the logged users and the shared resources.

If you're just looking for shared files or workgroups, there are three additional buttons at the bottom of the page that let you switch from computers to workgroups or resources.

MyLanViewer also comprises a powerful file searching utility that lets you search the network either for a given file format or for a user defined filename, but the scanning process may take a while, depending on the size of the network.

Last but not least, there's also a dedicated messenger tool to chat with some of your local friends.

All in all, MyLanViewer is quite a handy tool in large networks and its decent price may very well be the living proof that you have to give it a try.
